Parent/Guardian Notice about Independent Study Option: English/Spanish
Parents/Guardians of High School Students,
Last school year brought about unprecedented challenges. In light of this, the state of California has passed legislation to assist students who may have been negatively impacted by learning conditions during the pandemic. If your child was in grades 9-12 during the 2020-21 school year, you may request a letter grade or grades on a semester report card be changed to “Pass”/No Pass”. A benefit of Pass and No Pass grades is that they do not affect Grade Point Averages.
However, please note that not all colleges and universities accept Pass and No Pass grades. For a list of colleges and universities that accept Pass and No Pass grades, please click HERE.
If you would like to request a letter grade or grades be changed to Pass/No Pass, please fill out a Grade Change Request Form and submit to your child’s school office or district office by August 15. You can download a form on the school websites or pick one up at the school office.
