Dear Parent Advisory Committee/District English Learner Advisory Members:
We would like to express our gratitude for your participation in the joint meetings of the Parent Advisory Committee/District English Learner Advisory Committee. Your input on the development of the 2026-2027 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) has been invaluable.
Here is a summary of the questions, comments, and priority areas discussed during the March 24, 2026, and April 9, 2026 meetings.
On March 24, 2026, and April 9, 2026, we reviewed LCAP goals, actions, services, YouthTruth Survey data, district priorities, and student achievement data as part of the district’s needs analysis and LCAP development process. The following is a summary of the discussion and the district’s next steps.
- Parent engagement and parent education: DELAC/PAC members expressed appreciation for opportunities to participate in DELAC/PAC meetings and requested continued opportunities for parent education and engagement. The district will continue prioritizing parent education courses, such as PIQE, as funds allow. School sites will also continue providing parent engagement opportunities, including Parent Club meetings and other family engagement activities. This work is incorporated into Goal 3, Action Step 3.2: Family Engagement.
- Student social-emotional wellness and mental health supports: Parents expressed concerns regarding the student's mental health and social-emotional wellness. The district has prioritized school counseling services and social-emotional learning in the classroom. This work is incorporated into Goal 2, Action Step 2.2: Student Wellness and Counseling Supports.
- Sense of belonging and school climate: DELAC/PAC members discussed YouthTruth Survey results and identified student belonging, connectedness, and school climate as important areas for continued improvement. The district will continue focusing on creating welcoming, inclusive, and supportive school environments for all students and families. This work is incorporated into Goal 3, Action Step 3.1: School Climate and Culture. In addition, this work is an important part of the Professional Learning Community (PLC) work happening across all school campuses.
- English Learner and Newcomer supports: DELAC/PAC members expressed strong support for maintaining English Learner and Newcomer supports. The district will continue providing daily English Language Development (ELD) instruction and newcomer support services, including support from the Newcomer teacher funded through Title III. This work is incorporated into Goal 2 Action Step 2.5: Multilingual Learner Supports.
